After a few hours of rest the first night, I got up at 7am to grab some breakfast and check out the city. My nightly rate at the hostel I’m staying at is 130,000 VND, which is roughly $6. It also comes with breakfast and two beers per day. To put that into perspective, you could live here comfortably for about three weeks with roughly the amount of money you spend in one weekend out in NYC.
When I got back to my room I met the group of guys that I’m staying with at the hostel. I somehow happened to strike gold and get lucky again because I couldn’t have asked for a better group of “mates.” All of the guys are from the UK (hence the ever so witty use of the word mates). They share many of the same interests for their trip as me – meet new people, take in the surroundings, and have a good time! It was only right that we started the first night off with a pub crawl. As you probably could have guessed, it was a very long night and by the end of it we had only somehow managed to make it to two of the four bars of the crawl. I’ll call it a successful night.
