#LinkedInSports Day 1️⃣8️⃣: What is a book that helped you in your career and what did you learn?
The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari by Robin Sharma.
This was one of the first books I read that gave me an important perspective on happiness. Sometimes what we think will make us happy (a job title, money, new toys) is just a false sense of what will actually bring happiness.
The only way to create a life of passion, purpose and peace is to chase YOUR dreams, not the dreams that someone else wants for you. Or the path that society tells you to go down.
This book tells a story about a successful lawyer who "had it all", but ironically he had nothing at the same time. A truly inspiring journey that proves external happiness is never fulfilling.
I use many tactics learned in this book. But the most helpful takeaway was to ask myself basic questions:
Does that fancy watch really make you happy?
Are you happy just because you have "Founder" on your resume?
What is the impact this will have on others?
