Sports Business Secrets
Season 3 || Episode 465
Today’s guest is my guy Michael Martin Jr., and I deemed him a new nickname "The Sports Business Renaissance Man" because he wears many hats in this industry! A few of which being:
Warner Bros. Discovery Sports -- Camera Operator & Runner
Warner Bros. Discovery -- Assistant Equipment Inventory Manager
Gutter Cats TBT -- GM & Assistant Coach
GTM Family Productions -- Co-Founder
Overtime -- Camera Operator
Like most of us, Mike's basketball journey started when he picked up a basketball as a kid. But after he realized that playing at the highest level wasn't part of his career path, he started exploring other avenues. In 2017 when he picked up a camera for the first time, everything changed.
Today we talked about:
the college recruiting process
getting injured and "hanging them up" early
the transition from athlete to real world
his first few jobs (finance & construction management)
trying out the agency world & the challenges he faced
starting GTM Family Productions & what its all about
the importance of experience new cultures abroad
moving to Atlanta without having a job lined up
his roles as a freelancer at Warner Bros.
what it's like on set with Shaq, Charles, Ernie & Kenny
his GM role for The Gutter Cats (formerly Team Hines)
his role as a camera operator at Overtime Elite
and much more
Appreciate you tuning in. Hope you enjoy!
