This is a monthly recap of resources that have helped me become the best version of me!
A QUOTE I love --
"You'll never win a race you don't run!"
A BOOK I finished --
The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari by Robin Sharma // Create a life of passion, purpose and peace by finding what makes you HAPPY. This is a story about a successful lawyer who "had it all", but had nothing at the same time. A truly inspiring journey that proves external happiness is never fulfilling. Does that fancy watch really make you happy?
A PODCAST I listened to --
The Man Who Helps the Best NBA Players (David Nurse feat. Alan Stein) // My guy David is an NBA Player Development consultant who is changing the game with his methodology! If you're looking for a great way to become the best version of you, his podcast is a great place to start! On this specific podcast he talks w/ performance coach Alan Stein, who has worked with the elite of the elite, including Kobe, LeBron, CP3, etc. The amount of wisdom he has both instilled in them and learned from them is invaluable.
A PLACE I RECENTLY TRAVELED to --
Location --> Yerevan, Armenia
Reason --> Visited one of my clients during his rookie season in Armenia A-League!
Fun Fact --> On the flight in you can see the resting place of Noah's Ark!!! So cool.
A few ARTICLES you should read --
Ballin' Overseas with Nik Caner-Medley // The NBA is the greatest basketball league in the world. I don't think you will find many people who disagree. But seeing that I help players attain their dream of playing professional basketball, I cannot stress to you enough: playing outside of the NBA is not only possible, but can be life changing! My friend Nik wrote about his time overseas and how self belief and confidence have helped shape his career both on and off the court.
When Will Student Athletes Get Paid? // Obviously the answer to this question should have been executed decades ago. But that's a deeper conversation for another time. This article discusses yet another situation where college athletes are getting exploited. Amateurism is outdated. The NCAA, NBA and NFL need to figure it out!
A SPEECH you should take notes on --
This 4 Minutes May Change Your Life // If you know me you know how much I enjoy the passion and invaluable insight that Gary Vaynerchuk puts out. So here is a 4 minute "speech" that you need to watch. If you're unfamiliar with Gary, he curses a lot. Nonetheless, take the risk. We only get one life!
A VIDEO you should watch -- Are Athletes Really Getting Better, Faster, Stronger? // Very interesting TED Talk. Don't worry it's only 14 minutes. David Epstein explains why Usain Bolt isn't necessarily faster than Jesse Owens, even though his race time leaves him in the dust. Changing technology & changing mindset have impacted the advancement of athletes today.
