This is a monthly recap of resources that have helped me become the best version of me!
A QUOTE I love --
"The secret of happiness is not found in seeking more. But developing the capacity to enjoy less."
A BOOK I finished --
Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell // This book is home to the infamous 10,000 hour rule (in order to be "world class" at anything, you need to put in then thousand hours of practice). Malcolm also explains why success is not something that you are simply born with. The truth is, once you reach a certain level of skill or expertise, there are many outside factors that begin to take place; such as your ability to communicate, your network, additional social skills and many times being in the right place at the right time.
A PODCAST I listened to --
Lessons from Twitter and Square (We Study Billionaires: The Investors Podcast) // Did you know that the idea for Twitter started from studying the way that Taxi Drivers communicate with each other? Neither did I, but now I do! You won't want to miss the 2 main lessons that Jack Dorsey learned from founding Twitter.
PLACE I RECENTLY TRAVELED to --
Location --> Las Vegas, Nevada
Reason --> NBA Summer League!
Fun Fact --> I spent 9 days in Vegas and didn't step foot in a casino. Proud of myself! ;)
A few ARTICLES you should read --
How to Control Your Memory // Vacations should always end on a high note! But when you fly back to your house, have to do laundry & are dreading going to work on Monday morning; your brain leaves you with an unpleasant memory. The brain focuses on select pieces of your experience, so here are a few tips to always create memorable vacations.
The NBA "World Take-Over" // As I've talked about in previous newsletters and even a few podcasts, the NBA is taking over the world. The NBA Summer League in Las Vegas has become a "must see" event for fans. It has also turned into a "must be at" event for decision makers in the industry (coaches, agents, scouts, general managers). In an effort to expand its international reach, the NBA invited the national teams from Croatia and China to participate in the tournament. #NBAGlobal.
A VIDEO you should watch -- The Art of Misdirection (TED Talk by Apollo Robbins) // Attention is a powerful thing. It truly shapes your reality. How much do you pay attention to instagram? How closely are you listening to and watching a speaker? Check out a few of Apollo's pick-pocket moves on stage! He also leaves us with a question to ask ourselves...
PRODUCT of the month --
If you know me you know I drink LOTS of coffee. When I'm at home, I usually drink out of my KTA mug, as seen on my social media quite often. Today I'm very happy to tell you that YOU CAN TOO!
